There are breakfasts that feel healthy and there are breakfasts that make you pause and double-check that you’re actually allowed to eat them for breakfast.

This is firmly the second kind.

Rich chocolate baked oats with jammy roasted cherries folded through, a cloud of creamy Greek yogurt on top, and enough dark chocolate shavings to make the whole thing look like something from a good brunch spot. It smells incredible while it bakes and tastes exactly like what it’s named after, just reimagined into something that holds you through the entire morning without a second thought.

Black Forest cake for breakfast. We’re doing it.

Why This Works

Most chocolate breakfasts land in one of two places. Either they’re genuinely indulgent and not doing much for your energy or hunger levels, or they’re technically healthy but so underwhelming that you spend the whole morning thinking about what you actually wanted.

This one is neither. Chocolate protein powder and cocoa powder together give you deep, real chocolate flavor without needing sugar to get there. Oats and cherries bring 8 to 10 grams of fiber that slow everything down and keep energy stable. The egg adds structure and richness. Greek yogurt on top adds protein and that cool, creamy contrast against the warm baked oats that makes every bite feel more like dessert than it has any right to.

Protein at breakfast changes the whole morning. This just happens to be the most enjoyable way to get there.
