Every week, a new recipe seems to go viral — this carrot salad is no different but promises a skin glow up at the same time.

The “Retinol Salad” is a simple and delicious mix of carrots ribbons, vinegar, and sesame oil that’s suddenly everywhere on social media, thanks to its supposed skin benefits. And honestly? There’s some truth to it. Carrots are rich in beta-carotene — a precursor to vitamin A, or what we know in skincare as retinol.

So I had to try it and - of course - give it a Lolita Glow Up.

My version still leans into the skin-loving ingredients that make it buzzworthy — but I’ve added the nutrients your skin (and body) truly need: protein, fiber, and healthy fats. Together, they support collagen production, hydration, and balanced hormones — the real foundation for radiant skin over 40.

And yes, it comes together in one jar.

@watchlolitaThis viral “retinol salad” is trending for glowing skin — but my version takes it further 💫 🥕 carrots = vitamin A for smoother, brighter skin 🌱 edamame = protein + fiber to support collagen 🥑 avocado = healthy fats for hydration 🧄 garlic = antioxidants that fight inflammation Simple, crunchy, and full of nutrients your skin will love — proof that what you eat really does show up on your face. #RetinolSalad #GlowingSkin #EatForYourSkin #carrotsalad #easyhealthyrecipe

Why This Salad Actually Delivers the Glow

Topical products have their place, but I always remind my community: glowing skin starts from within. What you eat has far more impact on your collagen levels, elasticity, and how your skin handles stress than any serum ever will.

Each ingredient here earns its spot for a reason:

  • Carrots: Packed with beta-carotene (a vitamin A precursor) to support cell turnover and brightness.

  • Edamame: Plant-based protein and fiber that help balance blood sugar and provide amino acids for collagen.

  • Avocado: A source of healthy fats and vitamin E to reinforce the skin barrier and keep it hydrated.

  • Garlic: Antioxidant-rich and anti-inflammatory — helps calm redness and support overall skin health.

  • Sesame seeds and sesame oil: Provide zinc, copper, and fatty acids that encourage collagen formation and elasticity.

  • Cilantro: A natural detoxifier that supports circulation and glow.

It’s not about eating a delicious salad — it’s about eating food that works for you.
