This Week’s Recipes, Plus a Midlife Health Check-In
A weekly reset for women 40+: high-protein + fiber-forward meals, tips, and the things I’m loving this week
Wednesday, January 14, 2026
Hello!
It finally feels like the year is settling in. My routines are back to normal for the most part after the long holidays (seemed longer than usual last year which I actually loved), and I’ve been getting more intentional about the things I can actually control.
I recently got my latest Function Health results back, and while there are a few areas I want to dial in and optimize, I also felt genuinely good about where my health is right now. As I get ready to turn 53 next week, that matters more to me than ever. Not perfection, just clarity and consistency.
That mindset is exactly what this week’s newsletter is built around. Below you’ll find a few solid, high-protein, fiber-forward recipes, and a couple things I’ve been reaching for lately. Nothing trendy, nothing extreme, just supportive, repeatable choices that make the rest of the week feel easier.
guilt-free baked french toast
There is something about baked French toast that feels extra special. Soft in the center, lightly crisp on top, warm and cozy in that Sunday morning café kind of way. This version just happens to be high-protein, high-fiber, low sugar, and incredibly satisfying.
my go-to chicken dinner recipe
It’s one of those recipes you make once, then realize you don’t need to look it up ever again. Equal parts, a few herbs, a little heat, just enough sweetness for browning… and suddenly plain chicken thighs become something you crave.
warm lentil, chicken & roasted veggie power salad (subscriber only)
It’s technically a salad, but it eats like a bowl. Lentils and roasted vegetables give it weight and texture. Chicken brings real staying power. And the creamy Dijon dressing ties everything together in that slightly tangy, cozy way that makes you want to go back for a few more bites.
