Thrive Method Weekly: New Recipes + The summer eating mistake most women over 40 are making right now
July 18, 2026
Hey!
July is moving fast and the energy this month feels different in the best way. Summer Lean and Strong is the theme, the July meal plan is live for paid subscribers, and this week's Method Moment connects directly to why that name matters more right now than any other time of year.

Why Eating Less in Summer Is Working Against You
Summer has a way of naturally suppressing appetite. The heat makes food feel like a lot. A cold drink sounds better than a hot meal. Lighter feels better. And for a lot of women, eating less in summer feels almost virtuous, like the body is naturally recalibrating toward something leaner.
The problem is that under-eating in summer, specifically under-eating protein, is one of the fastest ways to lose muscle and slow metabolism. After 40, that loss is harder to reverse than it used to be.
Here’s what actually happens when protein drops in the heat.
The body still needs amino acids to maintain and repair muscle around the clock. When protein intake falls below what it needs, the body doesn’t just pause the muscle-building process. It starts breaking muscle down to meet its own demands. This happens quietly, without obvious symptoms. Energy dips a little. Body composition shifts slightly. The scale might not move but things feel softer. Most women attribute this to aging or hormones, and while both are real factors, inadequate protein is often the more immediate and fixable piece of the picture.
Appetite suppression from heat is real and normal. The goal isn’t to force large hot meals when it’s 95 degrees outside. The goal is to find ways to hit protein targets that actually work in summer, cold meals, smoothies, salads built around a serious protein base, foods that are easy to eat when appetite is low but still deliver what the body needs.
The Summer Lean and Strong meal plan is built exactly around this. Every meal hits the protein targets that matter for muscle preservation and metabolism, in formats that work when it’s hot and no one wants to stand over a stove. Light doesn’t have to mean low protein. That’s the whole point of this month.

Plateful Titanium Pro Pan - Switched to this and it's the kind of kitchen upgrade that makes everything else feel different. Pure titanium cooking surface, no coatings, no PFAS, nothing that flakes or degrades over time. The same biocompatible metal used in medical implants, which sounds like a lot until you realize how many conventional nonstick pans are quietly doing harm every single day. The lotus-leaf texture means food releases naturally with just a little oil, it handles heat up to 750°F so searing and oven use are both fair game, and it goes straight into the dishwasher. Lighter than cast iron, stronger than stainless steel, backed by a lifetime warranty. Worth every penny.
Good weekend ahead. Make something cold and protein-packed.
